This is a landscaping trick I learned in Seattle - instead of planting up against the house, one can plant away from the house
towards the sidewalk. In this yard I successfully designed and installed the gardens to provide some privacy from people walking by.
Most of the plants, like the JoePye Weed and the eastern red cedar tree, are tough native plants with good wildife value.
